How it began

On January 1, 1986, the company's own logistics subsidiary Culina Logistics GmbH (formerly Culina Spedition) started operations in Aretsried with 11 trucks. In order to be able to operate as a full-service freight forwarder in accordance with the legal framework, Aretsrieder Transport GmbH Güterfernverkehr was also founded as a license holder and vehicle owner.

The political changes in Germany opened up a wider scope of activity for the Theo Müller Group and thus also for the logistics division of Culina Logistics GmbH. Thanks to the rapid expansion of the Müller dairy business, more than 100 vehicles were already in use just five years after the company was founded.

The core business initially focused on the transport of our refrigerated food products for the Theo Müller Group, as well as adequate return loads to our customers' production sites.

Expansion of our business

In 1992, Culina Logistics GmbH acquired the companies Altenburg and Kraftverkehr Dresden, including their long-distance transport licenses. The portfolio was expanded to include milk collection vehicles and food tankers (milk procurement and transport of fruit preparations from Naturfarm) in order to be able to respond comprehensively to customer needs. On a small scale, the business for building materials and tarpaulin logistics was also added to the existing range of services and continued until the mid-1990s.

Just two years after the 100th truck went into operation, Culina Logistics GmbH already had around 150 vehicles on the road. It took only a few more years for the fleet to grow to around 250 vehicles.

Strong partner in transport logistics

In addition to supplying the Theo Müller Group, we were also able to convince other well-known external customers, including those in the food production sector, of the quality of our services in the 1990s. The existing business was expanded to include other areas, such as transport in plant logistics. Thanks to consistently high reliability and top-quality service, Culina Logistics GmbH has established itself as a reliable partner in German transport logistics.

Thanks to close cooperation with the in-house workshop, Fahrzeugtechnik Aretsried GmbH, a Mercedes-Benz service partner, Culina Logistics GmbH has always been able to keep its own fleet of vehicles on German roads at the highest technical level. And that remains the case to this day.

10th company anniversary

In 1996, Culina Logistics GmbH celebrated its 10th anniversary and its successful development over the past years.

As a sign of unity and cohesion between the two locations, two show trucks were designed with a special look. The Saxony truck adorned the picturesque backdrop of Dresden's old town and the Sachsenmilch production plant in Leppersdorf. The Bavaria truck, in white and blue, represented Bavarian culture and sights such as Neuschwanstein Castle. Both vehicles represented the federal states where the Theo Müller Group's dairy business has production sites.

During this period, another branch was opened in Korschenbroich, which contributed significantly to the company's development.

Major changes at the turn of the millennium

From 2000 onwards, technical changes and new legal and economic conditions had a major impact on the development of Culina Logistics GmbH. (Introduction of tolls, telematics, Euro standards, abolition of collective bargaining agreements and concession requirements, opening of borders in the EU)

Within the Theo Müller Group, this led to an analysis of the existing business areas of transport logistics. The result was a vision for securing the future distribution of our products within the Theo Müller Group, the separation of unprofitable businesses, and the restructuring of the company in terms of vehicle fleet and personnel to achieve an optimal operating size.

Further expansion & anniversary

In 2025, Culina Logistics GmbH opened a new facility in Lintorf (Bad Essen). From there, Culina has since been responsible for the HOMANN production site, delivering the finished goods. Culina thus takes over the complete factory disposal of sauces and dressings throughout Germany – a decisive step in strengthening and expanding the logistics value chain.

In 2026, Culina Logistics GmbH will celebrate a significant anniversary:
40 years after its founding on January 1, 1986, the company can look back on four decades of reliable logistics, continuous development, and successful partnerships within the Theo Müller Group and with numerous long-standing customers.

From now on, Culina Logistics GmbH will be serving our customers with almost 100 vehicles at three locations in Aretsried, Leppersdorf, and Lintorf: Molkerei Alois Müller, Sachsenmilch, HOMANN, T.M.A., Käserei Loose, Optipack, Milk & Whey Ingredients, Molkerei Weihenstephan, Almhof, Nadler, and many more.
